Dr. Harini Amarasuriya
Dr. Harini Amarasuriya is a Sri Lankan academic, sociologist, and politician serving as the 16th Prime Minister of Sri Lanka since September 2024. She is the third woman to hold the office after Sirimavo Bandaranaike and Chandrika Kumaratunga. A former senior lecturer in Sociology at the Open University of Sri Lanka with a Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh, she entered Parliament as an NPP National List MP in 2020 and won the highest preference votes in Colombo District in the 2024 Parliamentary General Election.
