Ranil Wickremesinghe
Ranil Wickremesinghe is a veteran Sri Lankan politician who served as the 8th Executive President of Sri Lanka from 2022 to 2024 and as Prime Minister in six separate terms (1993–1994, 2001–2004, 2015, 2015–2018, 2018–2019, and 2022). He has led the United National Party (UNP) since 1994 and served as Leader of the Opposition from 1994 to 2001 and 2004 to 2015. During his 2022–2024 presidency following the resignation of Gotabaya Rajapaksa, he negotiated the $2.9B IMF Extended Fund Facility and bilateral debt restructuring agreements.
